Pupienus, 238. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 30 mm, 19.37 g, 11 h), Rome, circa April-June 238. IMP CAES M CLOD PVPIENVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Pupienus to right, seen from behind. Rev. LIBERALITAS AVGVSTORVM / S - C Liberalitas standing front, head to left, holding counting-board in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left. BMC 10. Cohen 15. RIC 14. A lovely example with attractive earthen highlights on a turquoise patina. Cleaning scratches, otherwise, about very fine.
